You can’t support a child to spell new words if you aren’t sure how they map, especially if they have poor phonemic awareness.
When they need you the most, do you know which letters are the graphemes and their sound values?
Phonemies® (Speech Sound Monsters®) show the sound value of each grapheme.
This matters because seeing which letters are the graphemes doesn’t necessarily tell you which sounds they represent in that word. For example, the ‹E› and the ‹i› represent the same sound in the word English. Would a child know this?
